This page explains what happens to your details when you contact LFS Polished Concrete. It is written in plain English because that is how we would want it explained to us.

Who we are

LFS Polished Concrete, Vantage Point Archway, London N19 5FF. We install polished concrete floors across London and the South East. For anything to do with your personal information, contact us at info@lfspolishedconcrete.co.uk or on 020 3582 7011. We are the “controller” of the information described below, which is the legal term for the business that decides how your details are used.

What we collect

What you send us. When you use the contact form on this site, we receive your name, your email address and your message. If you email or call us instead, we receive whatever you choose to give us, which usually includes a phone number and the address of the property. When you send the form, it also tells us which page of the site you were on when you sent it.

Do you have to give it? A name and an email address are needed, because without them we cannot reply to you. Everything else is up to you — though the less we know about the job, the less useful our answer will be.

Records kept automatically. Like almost every website, ours sits on a server that keeps routine technical logs, which include the internet address (IP address) of visitors. These are kept by our hosting provider to keep the site running and to protect it from attacks.

Why we use it, and what allows us to

To answer you, arrange a site visit and prepare your quotation. When you ask us for a price or a visit, that is a step you have asked us to take before we enter into a contract, and data protection law allows us to use your details for it on that basis.
To carry out the work if you go ahead. This is us performing our contract with you.
To answer general questions and advice requests that are not about a specific job. Here we rely on our legitimate interest in replying to people who get in touch.
To keep a record of work we have carried out, so that we can deal with any question, claim or warranty issue that comes up later. This is our legitimate interest in being able to stand behind and defend our own work.
To keep the website secure and working. This is our legitimate interest in protecting the site.

We do not use your details for marketing lists, we do not sell them, and we do not share them with anyone for advertising. There is no automated decision-making — a person reads what you send and a person replies.

Cookies, analytics and Google

This website does not run analytics or advertising trackers, and browsing it does not place cookies on your device.

There is one thing you should know, because it is easy to miss. Some pages display a Google Map, and the site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Both are served by Google, so when such a page loads, your device connects to Google and Google receives your IP address — and Google is based in the United States, so that information travels outside the UK. We do not receive anything from Google about you, and we do not use Google to track you. If you would rather that connection did not happen, a tracker-blocking browser extension will prevent it.

Who else handles your details

Our website and our email are both provided by Hostinger, so messages you send pass through and are stored on their systems on our behalf. They act on our instructions only. Aside from Google receiving your IP address as described above, we do not pass your details to anyone else, unless the law requires us to or we need to in order to bring or defend a legal claim.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to work — up to 12 months, then deleted.
Jobs we carry out — 6 years after the work is finished. That is roughly how long a claim about building work can normally be brought, so it is how long we may need the record to answer one.
Technical server logs — kept for a short period by our hosting provider on their standard schedule, and not used by us for anything else.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, limit what we do with it while a question about it is sorted out, or object to us using it — including where we have relied on our legitimate interests. Where you gave us information to enter into a contract, you can also ask for it in a portable electronic format. Email info@lfspolishedconcrete.co.uk and we will deal with it. There is no charge, and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
